Hannah Israel is an artist, curator, and educator who lives and works in Columbus, GA, USA. Israel received her BA in Art History at Indiana University of Pennsylvania and her Master of Fine Arts in Sculpture at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign. She is currently a Professor of Art and the Gallery Director at Columbus State University Department of Art. Before her tenure at CSU, she worked at James Cohan Gallery and The International Curatorial and Studio Program in New York City. Her curatorial projects has been seen in the Illges Gallery at CSU, The Columbus Museum, The DoGood Fund, the Alabama Contemporary Art Center in Mobile, and the Kentler International Drawing Space in Brooklyn, NY.
Her artistic practice includes sculpture, installation, and mark-making. Israel has exhibited her work at the High Museum of Art, the Zuckerman Museum of Art, The Vargas Museum of Art in the Philippines, Albany Museum of Art, Museum of Contemporary Art in Honolulu, I-Space in Chicago, and the Krannert Art Museum, among others.
Hannah Israel has received the Daedalus Art Foundation Grant (NYC), the Creative and Performance Art Fellowship at the University of Illinois Champaign-Urbana, IL, the Artist Fellowship at Cornell University, NY, and the Columbus State University Faculty Grant. Israel's works are included in museums and private collections.
